Carol Lynch

Carol Lynch, former professor of biology, passed away on June 22, 2019. Carol joined the Wesleyan faculty in 1973 then served as dean of the natural sciences and mathematics. While at Wesleyan, Carol established a model system for studying the evolution of complex traits using house mice, and played a pioneering role in supporting and mentoring women in the sciences. She left Wesleyan in 1992 to join the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she served as dean of the graduate school and vice chancellor for research from 1992 to 2004, and was a professor of ecological and evolutionary biology and fellow of the Institute for Behavioral Genetics. She was a resident of Colorado at the time of her passing. Carol and her husband, Bob, generously established the Carol and Robert Lynch Student Research Fund at Wesleyan, which continues to support the research of undergraduate biology students.

William I. West, MALS’68

William I. West, MALS’68 passed away on June 18, 2019. William graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1948. He earned his master’s degree in mathematics from Wesleyan in 1968. He was 94.

Nicole Zell ’93

Nicole Zell ’93 passed away on June 4, 2019. A singer/songwriter, Nicole majored in English while at Wesleyan. She leaves behind three young children. She was 48.

Roger W. Pincus ’84

Roger W. Pincus ’84 passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. He was 56. Roger majored in government while at Wesleyan. He then earned a JD from the University of Pennsylvania and a MFA from George Mason University. He served for several years as a class secretary for the Class of 1984. He leaves behind his wife Jamie and three children, Heather ’19,  Jillian ’22, and Melanie.

Linda Wienski ’83

Linda Wienski ’83 passed away on May 30, 2019. At Wesleyan, Linda majored in economics. She earned an MBA from the University of Bridgeport. She was 57.

David Rouge ’65

David Rouge ’65 passed away on April 1, 2019. At Wesleyan, David majored in government. He then earned a master’s degree in from Delta College. He was 75.
