DAVID S. REVENAUGH ’72

DAVID S. REVENAUGH, who had been in the construction business, died Feb. 13, 2016, at age 65. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and also earned an MALS degree. An avid and skilled football player, he was a starter with the undefeated 1969 Wesleyan football team. After college, he explored many careers, but found his most fulfilling work as a middle school teacher in inner-city Bridgeport, Conn., and as a builder. His wife, Carol Pease Revenaugh, survives, as do three sons, his brother, and a nephew, Samuel H. Berman ’10.

JAMES F. MOORE III ’72

JAMES F. MOORE III, an accountant and banker, died Feb. 16, 2016. He was 65. After receiving a degree in economics, he worked for a year before obtaining an MBA from Columbia University in finance and accounting. He became a CPA and completed his Series 7 registration. He then held positions with Arthur Young and Company, International Paper Company, Pfizer Incorporated, and Donovan Data Systems, before transferring to the field of banking, where he subsequently held positions with Citibank, Barclays, UBS, and ING. He had been a member of the Board of the Guidance Center and was an elder at his church. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Penelope E. Johnson Moore, his son, a sister, a great aunt, and a large extended family.

RICHARD H. GUBITZ ’71

RICHARD H. GUBITZ, D.O., a family physician, died Feb. 22, 2015, at age 65. The son of Frederick H. Gubitz of the class of 1930, in 1975 he received a PhD in pharmacology from Michigan State University and then a medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University in 1978. He continued to teach updated pharmacology courses to medical students at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, in addition to practicing family medicine for 30 years in Berlin, Wisc. An active community volunteer and board member, he particularly enjoyed teaching students in medical and allied medical professions. His wife, Betsy Anderson Gubitz, survives, as do several sisters-in-law, nephews, and a niece.

JOHN C. TITTER JR. ’72

JOHN C. TITTER JR., a retired engineer, died Mar. 4, 2014. He was 66. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, he received a master’s degree from Wesleyan in 1972. He was a member of Sigma Xi and had been a quality assurance engineer for 37 years. His son, Jon Titter, survives, as well as his former wife, Madeleine Max, and a large extended family.

DARRYL ROBINSON ’75

DARRYL ROBINSON, 61, a finance executive, died Feb. 22, 2015. A member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, he was a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams. Survivors include his wife, Fredericka Rutledge Robinson ’75, a son, and two grandchildren.

PETER A. PANCIERA ’71

PETER A. PANCIERA, 66, who retired after a career in banking and finance, died May 23, 2015. At Wesleyan he was the quarterback of the undefeated 1969 football team and was a four-year member of the golf team. His career in banking and finance included positions with Hartford National Bank and Trust, the HSBC Equator Bank, and the Commercial Bank of Africa. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Fairgrieve, three children, five grandchildren, and his brother.

WILLIAM R. STEINHURST ’70

WILLIAM R. STEINHURST, a national expert in the field of energy, died July 24, 2014. He was 66. A member of Gamma Psi, he received master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Vermont. A State of Vermont public servant for more than three decades, his roles included Director of Regulated Utility Planning for 17 years. He also volunteered for the Girl Scouts at the local and state levels. After leaving state service, he joined Synapse Energy Economics, Inc., and was considered a national expert in the field of energy regulation, energy forecasting, and modeling. In addition to his professional career, he was an active musician. An avid photographer, he created installations and taught photography. He is survived by his wife, Susan Andersen Steinhurst MA’70, his parents, four children, four grandchildren, his sister, his brother, and a large extended family.

JOHN C. HAURY ’70

JOHN C. HAURY, 66, an attorney in private practice and a public defender, died May 16, 2015. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi and received his law degree from Indiana University. An attorney in Bedford, Indiana, for 40 years, he practiced law in eight firms bearing his name, most recently at Haury Law Office. For more than 25 years he was a public defender and an attorney for the Lawrence County Department of Child Services, and he served on several community boards of directors. Among those who survive are his wife, Lee Ann, and three children.

JOAN L. MARKMAN ’79

JOAN L. MARKMAN, an attorney and Philadelphia’s first Chief Integrity Officer, died Jan. 14, 2015. She was 54. After receiving her law degree from the University of Virginia, she was an assistant U.S. attorney for ten years and then Philadelphia’s first Chief Integrity Officer, beginning in 2008. She is survived by her husband, James M. Becker, two children, her brother, and a large extended family.

JEANNE DEMKO CHIANG ’74

JEANNE DEMKO CHIANG, an actuary, died Oct. 7, 2014, at age 61. After receiving her degree in mathematics, she spent her entire career at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, Conn. She enjoyed music and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Jaf Chiang ’74, two children, and her brother.
